FI 0001C: Destination Payer must be primary in Loop 2000B, SBR01 Must = P

If you use RelayHealth as your clearinghouse and you receive

Edit: FI 0001C: Destination Payer must be primary in Loop 2000B, SBR01 Must = P
Fix: This insurance carrier is not accepting secondary claims electronically at this time. Please drop the secondary claim to paper and attach a primary EOB. Mail the claim directly to the insurance carrier by paper.

CPID#6465 Student Insurance announced on September 2nd 2008 that they are currently not accepting secondary claims electronically at this time. At this time all secondary claims need to be dropped to paper and mailed in.

  2. Hi Dipa,

    Your error means that the insurance carrier is not accepting secondary claims electronically at this time.

    Most CMS-1500 claims are transmitted electronically and some carriers will accept both primary and secondary claims however; some carriers have been getting issues on the secondary claim transmission and began sending out denial edits to make doctors aware that they are not accepting claims electronically for secondary. When you get this alert you will need to print the secondary claim to paper and attach the primary EOB and mail to the carrier.
